We've had one or two "storms" too but at night while during the day the sun tries to peek out. We keep busy. Did I tell you that Max learned to read and write his name. He knows all the letters of the alphabet and a favorite song of his is ABCD... : ) What is most surprising to me is that he manages to read letters that are on different surfaces (sometimes quite warped), with different fonttypes, at different angles. He does sometimes confuse l (lower case L) and I (upper case i) and 1 (depending on the font) but he is pretty good otherwise. He also seems to understand that 2 is more than 1 and 5 is more than 2. Now, colors.... they have been giving him trouble. So far we have Yellow covered : )

In a letter to Grandad Gary:
"Here is the music class that we signed up for: https://www.musictogether.com/about/our-music We are doing the Bongos at the moment. They provide us with a book with the notes and some explanations and a CD with the songs. They are really good and fun to listen to. If I manage I will try to copy them on a memory stick and send them with our card to you guys. The really cool thing is our teacher Robyn. She has such an amazing voice that I would go to listen to her sing even if it wasn't for Max : ) Max has a Coconut Kalimba (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGRWQLifEJw), a bamboo flute (I think), a paruvian maracas, and a harmonica. His father also got him an Angel Glockenspiel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT3nUT7T7kA) but we put that away for now. You can see we are well stocked. (I almost forgot the musical toy that Chris's grandfather made for him - by turning a knob, it plays a song and is mounted on a piece of wood (with Christopher inscribed on it)) On a related note Max has been "blowing" candles, balloons, whistles, and what not and sometimes almost successfully ; ) I can imagine what a metal drum will do to the parents : ))" In a letter to the grandparents:
"Hello, we had a busy month - Max can now run three different styles, climb up and down the stairs by himself most of the time, jump, build tall towers (very tall indeed : )) he likes to build them more than destroy them). Max has a new friend Brynne. His favourite word to say is not longer "apple" but "apple sauce". He is talking most of the time and Chris is the one that can understand it more often : ) Max and I are going to music class on Fridays with Robyn (who has an amazing voice) and to arts class on Saturdays with Sun Rey : )) He loves the music class and I dare say he is singing all the time (there is almost no time for talking ; ) ). Chris taught him "Do Re Mi" and it is a song that he keeps chanting but it is Daddy's song; Mom is not aloud to sing it with him : ) A good thing because I have trouble remembering the words of the simplest songs. Hopefully, Max got Chris's memory for the most part. What else... you know about the big tumble... The scratches on the face were gone in less than 5 days. Pretty amazing. But he did not like to talk about it. The first time he saw himself in a mirror after the fall he scared himself and cried a little. : ) I hope I learned my lesson and be more careful next time. This being said, we also went to a real athletics gym and Max had fun with all the strange equipment... Max likes to eat Daddy's pizza now and even learned to pronounce the entire word for that reason. Oh, there were a few birthday parties we attended. And there's Max's coming up : ) Thank you so much for the gifts! We got the parcel yesterday but we are not opening it until tomorrow : ) Thank you for being patient with us, too; we are not always prompt. Good luck and hope to see you soon!!" |
