We'll not be able to attend the BG School Christmas party next week this year : (( but we had a chance to meet some of the kids and make "survachki" : )) It was fun!
Today was Max's Christmas Concert at Queen Alexandra F.A.M.I.L.Y. School (QA). The kids were so excited. All kindergarten kids are in the Primary Choir and sang "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", and "Jingle Bells". They also danced on "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow". Mrs. Gelson, Ms. Gelson's mother, had knit them wonderful hats. The kids loved the hats and now they do not take them off their heads. They are really pretty and soft and warm and different colours. A special one for every kid! So nice! Such a great memory! The kids were so excited about the event and sang and danced with the biggest smiles I have seen ; ) It was great. Thank you QA!
Mr. Kumar, Max's music teacher from school, came to tonight's concert!!!!
Max and we are going to be always grateful for his gesture. Max had volunteered an invitation to him earlier... Mr. Kumar coming to the concert was so generous and so much appreciated! We know how busy the teachers are with school and how much they already do for the children! Mr. Kumar had a long commute, sprained ankle from teaching soccer at the school the day before, and a concert at the school the next day where he was leading most of the program with the kids and he still came!
Thank you very very much!! It meant a lot to Max!!
Maxi came home from school today, sat down, and wrote a book for Mrs. Gelson, his teacher. It was so unexpected and it turned out so exciting. He did the whole thing from scratch. Told us he needs 10 sheets of paper and a stapler. Wrote the tile of the book and that it was made by Max on the first page and then proceeded with writing it and drawing pictures for it. We would spell the words for him but they were his words and his story. It ended up into a second story at which point he proceeded to add a table of contents. He got tired but did not give up really. He made the story open. He said that whoever reads the second story they need to make up there own stories where the question marks are : ) He added a section for notes, A lesson on numbers, A game or two with dots, A calendar... And some scribbles at the very last page. It was cool watching him work. He wanted to give it to Mrs. Gelson the very next day, Friday, but we wanted to make copies. It felt special to us. Max finally agreed, and he was still working on some of the coloring of the pages. [Nevertheless he did talk to Mrs. Gelson about it and even 'secured' a photocopy service at the school with Mrs Gelson if we could not copy it ourselves : )]. It is all done now. I have a pdf version of it. We made few copies because we want to send it to Max's grandparents for Christmas. The copies are slightly shifted, the original is covered with stapler holes but it is going to be a well-loved book of ours no matter what! Hope you enjoy it, I will post a copy here too in the next few days.
Mrs. Gelson, Max's teacher in Kindergarten, showed me his notebook today. She was very excited that he wrote 'I wet fo a wolc' ('I went for a walk') all by himself on a picture he drew in class. The picture was nice too ; )
Max also was given a sheet to report the books he reads. The class is hoping they will be the class with the most read books : ) Max is already on his second sheet and he enters most of the entries himself.
Mama and Tati are very proud of you Maxi!
